A Loss in our IAAE Family

The IAAE is saddened to learn about the sudden passing of Lynette Pithan. Lynette taught in Maquoketa's Alternative Classroom from 1989 until the time of her death--June 1, 2011.

In a message to Ray Morley the founder of MAC, Deb Carson, remembered this about Lynette:

She was so dedicated to the mission of alternative education that she recently told administration that if they tried to transfer to the high school for her last year before retiring, she would walk out now!  She said later that she took great pleasure in telling our principal just how it would be!!!  And, I loved hearing it!!!  HA!

We will remember Lynette as a fervent supporter of alternative education who refused to let anyone push her around. Thanks to Deb Carson for sharing the story and bringing a happy memory to us.
